Fall at Whitewater Falls This waterfall is on the border between Jackson and Transylvania Counties, NC, on the Whitewater River in the Pisgah National Forest. Reputed to be the highest waterfall in the eastern US, it is reached by taking NC 281 south from Sapphire, NC. The Forest Service collects a parking charge to reach the "improved" viewing area for this fall. The daily parking permit is also good for Dry Falls. |
